Ibanez TOD10N-TKF Tim Henson
The Ibanez TOD10N in detail
About Tim Henson
In 2011 Tim Henson founded the band Polyphia together with his co-guitarist Scott LePage, bassist Clay Gober, drummer Brandon Burkhalter and singer Lane Duskin. That same year the group released their debut EP Resurrect. A year later singer Lane Duskin left the band and Polyphia continued as an instrumental outfit. From the start, Tim Henson's inventiveness and his distinctive playing technique were cornerstones of the Polyphia sound. After another EP the band released their debut album Muse in 2014 via crowdfunding. Polyphia were subsequently signed to Equal Vision Records, who reissued the debut album in 2015. In autumn 2015 the band toured the US with Invent, Animate and headliner Erra. In 2022 the band released their fourth studio album Remember That You Will Die, which features various guest musicians including Steve Vai. The album reached number 33 on the US album charts. The online magazine Loudwire placed Remember That You Will Die on its list of the 50 best rock and metal albums of 2022 and selected Playing God as Song of the Year 2022.
You can rock with nylon strings too
The TOD10N-TKF is, unlike Tim's other Ibanez signature guitar, an acoustic with nylon strings, but it's not an ordinary classical guitar. It has a noticeably shallower body, consisting of a solid Sitka spruce top and back and sides of sapele. Thanks to the soundhole in the side you can hear yourself much better when playing. The TOD10N's slim C-profile neck is made of Nato; the walnut fretboard is fitted with the eponymous Tree of Life inlay in mother-of-pearl. The built-in Ibanez AEQ210TF preamp with integrated tuner delivers the perfect sound through an amp. The top finished in Transparent Black Flat, the pearloid body binding and the gold tuners set this special instrument perfectly in scene and give it an elegant, high-quality look. With this guitar Tim recorded, among others, the song Playing God, which you can hear in this video.
Olli follows up
Olli also took a closer look at the new Ibanez models and, of course, the TOD10N-TKF, and peppered an Ibanez expert with questions about the new model for you. Here you can watch the result and find out, among other things, which Ibanez model the TOD10N is based on, how it manages to sound so great even without a traditional soundhole and where the name Tree of Death comes from. Have a look!
Product information "Ibanez TOD10N-TKF Tim Henson"
The thin, compact body and excellent access to the high frets contribute to this guitar's outstanding playability. It has less feedback because there is no sound hole on the top. The fan bracing typical of classical guitars gives this guitar a warm and natural nylon string sound. The solid Sitka spruce top offers an enormous frequency range, providing wave after wave of shimmering highs along with tight mids and full-bodied bass. The sapele back and sides provide a full and warm midrange and a bright tone. The Fishman® S-Core pickup accurately transmits the full guitar sound to any amplifier system you connect to.
The AEQ210TF preamp offers the added punch of a built-in EQ and the convenience of an easy-to-read digital tuner. The combination of a narrow 46 mm nut and a 400R fingerboard radius makes for easy fingering. The sound hole on the side of the body allows you to feel and hear the pure acoustic tone of this guitar even more clearly and directly.
"Tree of Death" fingerboard inlay - The name and design of this fingerboard inlay are a nod to the iconic Ibanez "Tree of Life" inlay, but with a twist.

The Japanese instrument maker Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass construction. Although Ibanez initially made a name for itself with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from makers like Gibson and Fender, its own series gradually emerged, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s the company became particularly well known in the heavy sector with instruments that stood out for their modern features, distinctive design and excellent playability. Innovations such as 7- and 8-string guitars, born from fruitful collaborations with artists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, further helped to establish Ibanez's strong reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, from entry-level guitars and basses to exotic Custom Shop models. In addition, Ibanez also impresses in the field of effects and amplifiers, as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. Here you'll find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.

Easy to play, good looking, pic up vrery good
Looks Amazing and plays pretty nicely apart from the action being quite a bit higher than i personally prefer even in nylon strings. The unplugged sound isnt great but still good considering that its really supposed to be plugged in and when it is it sounds great with the right settings. There is a relatively slight but noticable intonation issue between the open strings and twelth frets but thats the only real complaint i have so far
