Dirty Shirley is an ultra-fat sounding classic rock amp. According to Premier Guitar, it sounds "like Jimmy Page on the first Zeppelin albums." However, we dare say that Jimmy Page would have killed for an amp like that back in the day.
Dave Friedman's goal was to design the ultimate classic rock amp that covers everything from beautifully shimmering clean sounds to vintage-style crunch sounds à la Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, and Van Halen to smacking fat lead sounds, simply by using the guitar's volume pot or varying the hardness of your attack... And with the Dirty Shirley, Dave Friedman has more than succeeded!
The basis of this Friedman sound wonder is essentially a Marshall JTM45 with master volume. A low and a high input set the pace here. The low input reveals a tonal diversity ranging from crisp, shimmering clean sounds to impressively dynamic vintage crunch sounds, while the high input operates between classic rock and singing, smacking lead sounds. The tube rectifier gives the tone just the right amount of compression, which makes the amp sound fat and wide, especially with single notes, without becoming muddy. It's virtually impossible to get a bad sound out of this amplifier!

Ich hatte im Laufe meines langen Gitarristenlebens schon viele Amps, die allesamt Röhrenamps waren. Der Friedman Dirty Shirley Amp gehört zum absolut besten, was ich für meine Stilrichtung Bluesrock je gehört habe. Ich habe ihn so eingestellt, wie es im beiliegenden Manual empfohlen wurde, habe ihn mit meiner Customshop Strat mit Kloppmann Pickups angespielt und erst nach Stunden voller Begeisterung wieder aufgehört. Er verträgt sich super mit meinem Fulltone Ranger mit meinem Clyde Wah und im Einschleifweg mit meinem Strymon Flint. Absolut empfehlenswert!
