Product information "Fender LTD Custom Shop Roasted 62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Aged Ocean Turquoise over 3-CS #CZ576287"
In 1954 the Fender Stratocaster finally hit the market after a long development period. The instrument looked like no guitar before it: the body appeared curvier and more flowing than that of the Telecaster to increase playing comfort, the new headstock slightly resembled the old Bigsby headstocks, the output jack was elegantly recessed into the side of the body instead of on the top, and the Strat was equipped with three single-coil pickups. The guitar was originally built with an ash body and a bolt-on maple neck and was initially only available in 2-Colour Sunburst or White Blonde finishes. It wasn’t an immediate bestseller at first, but the Strat gradually grew in popularity and became a permanent part of music history.
At the beginning the Stratocaster was only available in the two colours mentioned above; from 1957 the first Custom Colours were introduced, allowing customers to order more colourful guitars for an extra charge. In 1959 the Strat received a facelift along with the Telecaster: the bodies were now made from alder and the maple necks were fitted with rosewood fretboards, resulting in a warmer overall tone. New colours were also added to the existing Custom Colours.
The Fender Custom Shop has made it its mission to study the high-quality vintage Stratocasters of that era and recreate them down to the smallest detail. Here we have a very special Custom Shop one-off inspired by a Stratocaster from Fender's golden years:
The Fender LTD Custom Shop Roasted 62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Aged Ocean Turquoise ov. 3CS is a classic ST-style electric guitar with a two-piece alder body. Alder has been used on original Stratocaster guitars since the late 1950s and provides the basis for the perfect vintage tone. The body wood has been hand-selected to ensure particularly light weight and thereby improve playing comfort. The aged maple neck with rosewood fretboard is shaped in an Oval C profile in the style of the 60s and features a 9.5" fretboard radius, which offers the ideal compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort and facilitates fingering for the fretting hand. The guitar is fitted with a classic S-S-S pickup configuration of three Fender Custom Shop handwound 60/63 Strat single-coils. Other features include Fender Vintage tuners, parchment soft-touch knobs, a Fender Vintage Synchronized Tremolo and a three-ply mint green pickguard.
This model is finished in an exciting overpaint finish: Aged Ocean Turquoise over 3-Color Sunburst. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish allows the wood to resonate particularly well and ages attractively. The most extreme of Fender's Relic levels, Heavy Relic, evokes the spirit of the most time-tested and worn Fender instruments in history. If you want a guitar that looks like it hasn’t left your side since the beginnings of rock ’n’ roll, this is the right finish for you.
The Fender LTD Custom Shop Roasted 62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Aged Ocean Turquoise ov. 3CS is delivered with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Fender Custom Shop case with brown Tolex and orange interior lining, so you can transport your new dream guitar safely and protect it from external influences.
