In 1954 the Fender Stratocaster finally came to market after a long development period. The instrument looked like no guitar before it: the body appeared curvier and more flowing than that of the Telecaster and was intended to increase playing comfort; the new headstock was somewhat reminiscent of the old Bigsby headstocks; the jack socket was elegantly recessed into the side of the body instead of on the top; and the Strat was equipped with three single-coil pickups. The guitar consisted of an ash body and a bolt-on maple neck and was initially only available in 2-Colour Sunburst or White Blonde finishes. At first it was not a blockbuster, but gradually the Strat became ever more popular and an established part of music history.
Initially the Stratocaster was only available in the two colours mentioned above, but from 1957 the first custom colours were introduced, allowing customers to order a more colourful guitar for an extra charge. In 1959 the Strat, together with the Telecaster, received a facelift: the bodies were now made from alder and the maple necks were fitted with rosewood Fretboards, which provided a warmer overall tone. New colours were also added to the existing custom colours.

The Fender Custom Shop 1959 Stratocaster JRN HSS RW RHD SFSP is a classic ST-style electric guitar with a two-piece alder body. Alder has been used on the original Stratocaster guitars since the late 1950s and provides the basis for the perfect vintage tone. The body wood was hand-selected to ensure particularly light weight and thereby improve playing comfort. The aged maple neck with rosewood Fretboard has a 60s-style oval "C" profile and a compound Fretboard radius of 9.5" - 12", offering the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort and making fingering easier for your fretting hand. The guitar features a modern H-S-S pickup configuration with a Seymour Duncan '78 EVH Zebra at the bridge and a Fender Custom Shop Handwound Bone Tone Relic single-coil at the neck and middle positions. Further features include aged white control knobs, a Fender 6-Saddle American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo bridge and a three-ply white pickguard.
This model is finished in a striking Sea Foam Green Sparkle. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can resonate particularly well and that the finish ages more attractively.
