Fender American Vintage II 51 Telecaster MN BTB
Everything about the Fender American Vintage II 51 Telecaster
The Fender American Vintage II series not only takes its visual cues from the historic designs that made music history, but we have also faithfully reproduced many period-correct details: bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and pickups that are carefully voiced to match the tone of the original model year. Thanks to traditional Fender craftsmanship, every instrument embodies the authentic character and sound of the respective original.
One year after the debut of the Broadcaster, Fender received a telegram from the Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co. demanding they stop using the name. Leo Fender therefore had to come up with a new name for his first electric guitar. In 1951 the first Blackguard Telecaster went on sale. The model is still produced to this day. Remarkably simple yet a game changer, the Telecaster made the solid-body electric guitar commercially viable — and became a source of inspiration for countless musicians.
With its ash body in Butterscotch Blonde, the American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster matches the original in both tone and looks. The neck is made from Hard Rock Maple (rock maple) and is crafted in a chunky '51 U-shaped profile, and it plays wonderfully. Vintage Tall Frets sit atop the 7.25” fretboard. Typical for the 1951 production year is the narrow dot spacing at the 12th fret. Also historically accurate are details such as the Phillips-head screw for the truss-rod adjustment, a bridge with three brass saddles and the headstock fitted with “Fender Deluxe” tuners. Pure Vintage '51 Telecaster pickups deliver the coveted Tele twang and authentic Fender style.
