From his days as the drummer of Nirvana to his ongoing success as guitarist, singer and songwriter of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is a rock legend in his own right. A long-time Gibson player, his earlier signature guitars are still in high demand and fetch top prices on the second-hand market – if you can find one. Now Epiphone has once again collaborated with Gibson Custom Shop to release the Dave Grohl DG-335.
The Epiphone DG-335 Pelham Blue offers the combination of ES-335 and Trini Lopez model features that Dave wanted and fans expected, including a semi-hollow ES body with bound diamond-shaped soundholes, a one-piece mahogany neck with an elliptical profile, a Trini Lopez-style headstock, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, a laurel fingerboard and split diamond inlays. The pickups are Dave's favorite Gibson USA Burstbucker models, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck position and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position. They are wired with CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors and a Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch.

When you think of Epiphone you naturally think of Gibson, since the maker of guitars, basses, amplifiers and accessories has been part of that company since 1957. Epiphone mainly offers instruments in the lower to mid price range. That means beginners can pick up electric guitar and bass classics such as Les Paul, SG, Explorer, Firebird, ES-335 or Thunderbird for little money. There are also instruments from earlier Epiphone eras like Casino, Wildkat, Riviera and Wilshire. In particular, Epiphone's beginner sets for electric guitar, acoustic guitar and electric bass are worth a close look for newcomers.

I absolutely loved this guitar since I saw it. I like Foo Fighters, and I like Dave Grohl, but this was not a fanboy shop. The guitar truly has a beautiful, airy sound that is clear and rich. Two Gibson US humbuckers that give it a lot of power for hard rock and even metal. On the other hand, seeing Dave Grohl on stage using it live truly makes you fall a bit more in love with the guitar. I love everything about this guitar, and the quality is top-class. The case is great too! The delivery from Misk Producktiv to Norway was very easy; the guitar arrived just 4 days after I ordered it. Impressive! Consider that this guitar is also a collectible; in the long run, the value can go up!
