When it comes to active pickups in electric guitars, only one name comes to mind: EMG. It's a different story with basses, active pickups are just as recognised as their passive counterparts and there is therefore a certain variety of manufacturers. One of the first was of course EMG. Like so many other pickup manufacturers, EMG started out in the mid-70s in my parents' garage. The first companies operated under the names Dirtywork Studios and Overlend, until EMG Inc. was finally founded in 1983. And for those who don't know - and that's most people - EMG stands for Electro - Magnetic Generator.
EMG fans appreciate the neutrality of these pickups - the bass equipped with EMG pickups never loses its own basic sound. The EMG's come fully wired including socket and battery clamp.

Mein Bass, mit Humbucker im J-Format, neigte dazu, etwas zu fett zu klingen. Besonders die E-Saite tat sich dann hervor. Mit den EMGs hat er immer noch sehr kräftige Bässe, klingt aber jetzt ausgewogen. Die liefern einen detailreichen Sound mit viel Dynamik. Der Umbau ist selbst für Leute die nicht Löten können denkbar einfach und alles, was dazu benötigt wird, inklusive Potis, wird mitgeliefert. Es gibt natürlich auch andere gute Pickups, aber in Sachen Aktiv-PUs, ist EMG einfach DIE Referenz.
I ordered these, and got them without any hassle. They are pretty much plug and play, if you know a little bit about installation. Initially I thought they sounded good, but I only tested them playing finger style on a small amp. When I plugged into my rehearsal amp, added some overdrive and started pummeling the bass with a pick, I realized it wasn’t the sound I was looking for. Nothing wrong with the pickups, just not what I wanted.

sehr gute PUs Leider eingeschränkte Kompatibilität, wegen der "idiotensicheren" Steckverbindungen. Löten ist nervig, aber man hat extrem viel mehr kreative Möglichkeiten!!! PU s sind PU s und kein Playmobil
