When it comes to active pickups in electric guitars, opinions differ on the one hand, but on the other hand only one name is mentioned: EMG. Like so many other pickup manufacturers, EMG also started out in the mid-1970s in their family garage. The first company names were Dirtywork Studios and Overlend, until finally, in 1983, EMG Inc. was founded. And for those who don't know – and that's most of you – EMG stands for Electro Magnetic Generator.
