The Electro Harmonix Soulfood is considered as a "low budget KLON clone" - a transparent overdrive, which changes the fundamentals of guitar and amp only insignificantly. EHX also has a heart for bass players: the bass soulfood is a variant specially optimised for electric bass. The pedal is equipped with an blend control, which allows the clean direct signal to be mixed with the overdrive signal. Thus, even with a stronger distortion, a clearly defined signal is generated without the loss of the low frequencies, which is often the case with Overdrive pedals.
