The 4097 CORE Supercardioid Choral Microphone was developed primarily as a choral microphone for use in church congregations and is suitable for anyone looking for an unobtrusive, versatile and good-sounding choral microphone, e. g. for live broadcasts with choral or ensemble vocal performances.
The 4097 Choral Microphone is an unobtrusive floor stand solution specifically designed to capture the natural sound of a choir. It is unlike any other choral microphone on the market. Every detail has been specifically designed and tested to meet the demands of a variety of choral situations.
As a supercardioid microphone, the 4097 choir microphone offers a highly directional pick-up pattern as well as a low level of self-noise and high sensitivity. The 4097 choir microphone is capable of handling extremely high sound pressure levels, allowing the microphone to deliver an undistorted, natural sound, even when the choir is singing loudly. With a linear response, low distortion and an extremely wide dynamic range, these microphones sound great no matter how challenging the environment. Furthermore, the sound does not deteriorate when the vocals are coming from the side (off-axis). Only the volume of the voice is reduced. In this way, the sound engineer can use fewer microphones and direct them towards the last row of singers. The directional characteristic lowers the signals coming in from the side, creating a natural balance between the closest voice (loudest, but attenuated) and the furthest voice (weakest level, but in the most sensitive area of the microphone). Extremely stable, unobtrusive design The 4097 choir microphone offers a more stable construction than any other dedicated choir microphone on the market. The shorter active boom pole stabilises very quickly if it is accidentally bumped. The three built-in shockmounts - in the microphone capsule, the swivel and the base plate - work together to reduce rumble when bumps occur.
The unobtrusive and stable base has an integrated shockmount solution that helps to stabilise the entire construction. The vertical stand, which is attached to the base, consists of three links that can be used to adjust the overall height of the system. Simple yet secure threaded screws hold the three elements together. This unique design allows for a vibration-free vertical stand that quickly stabilises itself once positioned. One element of the stand can be removed quickly and without tools to lower the structure.
A swivel joint with built-in shockmount connects the vertical stand to the active boom and, together with the gooseneck at the end, allows complete control over microphone placement. The swivel joint can be used to adjust the angle of the active boom and its position in relation to the vertical stand. The angle of the microphone capsule is pre-set so that it can be easily positioned above the choir at an angle of 90° to the active boom. This ensures that the microphone itself does not obstruct the audience's view. Small adjustments can be made with the upper gooseneck to adjust the specific direction of the microphone capsule. The 4097 choir microphone has a smaller, slimmer, more unobtrusive form factor when viewed from the audience. This is partly due to the elegant and exclusive looking matt black non-reflective finish that reduces reflections from overhead lights.
Wireless for an even cleaner look
The 4097 choir microphone can be operated wirelessly, making the overall appearance even more discreet. At the end of the 122 cm (84 inch) long active boom with the integrated cable guide is a MicroDot socket, which is connected to the supplied heavy-duty MicroDot cable and ends at the base plate. A standard MicroDot to XLR adapter (included ) or alternatively a standard wireless transmitter can then be connected simply and unobtrusively to the base plate. Any wireless transmitter for which there is a suitable adapter in our range can be used here. This provides great flexibility on stage if several choir microphones have to share the space. Once the choir is on stage, the 4097 choir microphones can simply be set up in the allocated positions and you're ready to go!
