Fifty years ago the market for effect pedals wasn't as large as it is today. Instead of a multitude of pedal makers on the internet, you had to visit your local guitar shop and choose from two or three brands they stocked. DOD was almost always one of them.
Named after co-founder David O. DiFrancesco, DOD brought some of the first pedals to market in the middle of that golden era. It wasn’t long before models like the DOD 250 Overdrive Preamp and the DOD 201 Phasor were seen with some of the biggest names in the electric-guitar scene.
The next revolution in guitar sound came with the explosive development of digital signal processing (DSP). DOD answered that call by founding the DigiTech brand. These products allowed musicians for the first time to access multiple effects in professional studio quality from a single device, save and recall preset sounds, all in compact, convenient housings.
While DOD cemented its legacy in the world of analogue effect pedals, the engineers at DigiTech worked hard to push the boundaries of DSP. Fascinated by the power and endless possibilities, they wanted to expand what was possible for electric-guitar sound. With the DigiTech DSP-128, the industry’s first true multi-effects processor, they achieved exactly that.
Although DigiTech has always been linked to its sister brand, the company has pursued its own vision: to deliver cutting-edge digital technology that inspires musicians to create the sounds of the future. DigiTech products give musicians not only ultimate control over incredible tones, but also drive the development of new DSP tools to inspire the next generation of guitarists.
