Catalinbread's Belle Epoch Pedal has set standards in Maestro Echoplex simulation. Howard Gee, the chief designer of Catalinbread is now ringing the next round in terms of autonomy and sound quality with the Belle Epoch Deluxe Tape Echo. Lt. Catalinbread the secret of the magical Echoplex sound is the operating voltage of the preamp section, which is relatively high on the original with 22 volts and thus allows an enormous headroom. The Belle Epoche Deluxe also works internally with 22 Volt. The preamp circuit is completely analog and discreetly built - no SMD parts, no OP Amps but selected JFET transistors and authentic orange drop capacitors. The signal path of the pedal is completely analog, the digitally generated echo signal is mixed. The cool self-oscillations of a band echo can be generated using a foot switch. The Belle Epoch Deluxe is a successful reproduction of the Echoplex sound in a floor pedal format without the usual maintenance and wear which incurs with Bandechos
