Breedlove was founded in the early 1990s by former Taylor Guitars employees Larry Breedlove and Steve Henderson in Bend, Oregon. In 1994 Larry's brother Kim Breedlove joined the company and, with his experience as a banjo builder, drove Breedlove's innovations forward.
These innovations are reflected in the choice of materials, the construction of various guitar components and the experimentation with body shapes. For optimal sound the Made-in-Bend models undergo the "Sound Optimization" process, in which experienced luthiers work the wood in minimal steps until the guitars resonate optimally at the ideal frequencies.
The baseline model for all Breedlove guitars is the Concert. From this stem the Jumbo variant Concerto, the short-scale version Concertino, as well as the newest family member, the travel guitar Companion. Regarding materials, Breedlove is particularly proud of its pioneering use of Myrtlewood, which offers excellent properties as a tonewood and comes directly from the local area in Oregon.
On the respective product detail pages you can find out more about the individual models.
