Bourgeois Guitars LTD OMC Soloist 50th Anniversary Touchstone #3

Product information "Bourgeois Guitars LTD OMC Soloist 50th Anniversary Touchstone #3"

Fifty years ago Dana Bourgeois built his first guitar on a desk in a dorm room. What began as an experiment became a lifelong mission: building some of the finest steel-string guitars in the world. To mark the anniversary, Bourgeois has released a strictly limited 50th Anniversary Series of just 25 instruments worldwide. The Soloist OMC is one of the centrepieces of this series.

The Soloist represents a defining phase in Dana Bourgeois’ career. Developed in the mid-1980s together with Eric Schoenberg, it was conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic OM: fingerstyle-optimised, with a cutaway, contemporary voicing and wood combinations that deliberately explored new directions at the time. A concept that put the OM back on the map in a lasting way.

The Soloist OMC 50th Anniversary remains true to this philosophy: uncompromising playability, noble materials and deliberately restrained aesthetics. The back and sides are made from Macassar ebony with impressive figure and depth of colour. The top is Italian bearclaw spruce, showing perfect grain and just the right amount of character. The fretboard and Pyramid Bridge are also crafted from ebony, colour-matched to the body. Black ebony binding and wood purfling underline the organic look.

Instead of lavish inlays, Bourgeois opts for a subtle highlight: the “Ghost Squares and Diamonds”. These discreet fretboard markers in 14-karat gold are reserved exclusively for the 50th Anniversary models and are also found as an inlay on the heel cap.

Sonically this OMC plays at the top level. Enormous dynamics, impressive volume even when new, and a balance that presents complex fingerstyle passages clearly and controlled. Finest nuances at gentle touch, powerful growl with harder attack. Rich in overtones without ever sounding cluttered.

The neck combines vintage feel with modern ergonomics: slightly slimmer, a light V-profile, plus the generous string spacing typical of OM models – comfortable and precise at the same time.

The Bourgeois Soloist OMC 50th Anniversary is not a collectible to lock away. It is a true player's guitar at an absolute top level – and a worthy statement of five decades of modern guitar-making craft.

About Bourgeois Guitars

The company Bourgeois Guitars is renowned for the handcrafted production of steel-string acoustic guitars of the highest calibre. All instruments belong to the absolute premium segment. Dana Bourgeois founded Bourgeois Guitars in 1992 after he developed a passion for learning about and building high-quality guitars while studying at Bowdoin College in Maine. He built his own guitars in the early 1970s and opened a small shop in Maine in 1977, where he worked as a luthier and repairer.

Over the years Bourgeois Guitars has earned an outstanding reputation, as the company places great emphasis on genuine craftsmanship and an excellent tone. Only first-rate, carefully selected materials are used for the instruments, because quality always comes first. The brand also impresses with its variety, offering guitarists many different models to choose from, including dreadnoughts, OM models, jumbos and more. Bourgeois guitars are not simply acoustic guitars, but lovingly crafted works of art.
