The ST. James 50 EL 34 Fawn Combo has a lot to offer: for the first time, a switching power supply is used in conjunction with a real tube amp - weight saving is a major theme of the ST. James series. The amp offers 2 channels, a clean channel with brilliant highs and clearly defined basses with great clean headroom. The lead channel with classic, British low gain to crunch with traditional passive tone control that can be boosted if required. The amp also has "inner values" under the bonnet: on board is a reactive load with cab rig speaker simulator and USB interface for silent recording applications. The output power of the power amp can be reduced from 50 to 2 watts, and the power amp saturation can be influenced with the SAG control. Another new development is the Celestion Zephyr speaker - lightweight construction with a traditional magnet, voicing similar to the popular Vintage 30.
