Dances have always fascinated musically through their rhythms and melodies. In this book they are conceived so that they can be studied and performed both solo and four-handed. Beginners, or slightly advanced children and adults will find a selection of nicely sounding, lightly arranged Central European and American dances here. The solo part is initially notated in large type to make learning easier. On the following right-hand page it is played just one octave (8va) higher. The accompaniment on the left-hand side should be added by the second player (teacher) as discreetly, i.e. quietly, as possible. Based on steady quarter- or eighth-note accompaniments, the four-handed version can thus be developed with lots of fun. Playing together strengthens the sense of rhythm and teaches the importance of a steady tempo.
