“My First Note Training for Piano & Keyboard!” was adapted from the successful concept of “My First Piano Method” and its sequel “My Second Piano Method” and is a practical aid as well as a useful supplement to any piano method that begins in the bass clef with small c.
Reading notation is a difficult task for many pupils. This is understandable, because on keyboard instruments you play in two different clefs and learning the notes of both the treble and the bass clef often becomes a lengthy process. On top of that there is the large number of keys/notes (up to 88). As with learning a language, it takes time and practice. For that reason it makes sense to return regularly to the notes and to get to know them better with the help of this note-training book.
In “My First Note Training for Piano & Keyboard!” the treble clef covers the notes from (one-lined) c' to (two-lined) c'' and the bass clef from small c to (two-lined) c''. Later the treble clef range is extended upwards to (three-lined) c'''. The notes B and A are also introduced. In the bass clef the range includes notes from great C down to small c, as well as the (one-lined) d' and e'.
In this exercise book notes are labelled, played and written in independently. Attention is repeatedly drawn to the position of the notes on the staff, i.e. which lines and spaces the respective notes occupy. It is recommended to use a soft pencil for the exercises in this book so that corrections or repetitions of the exercises are possible. The answers to the exercises are at the back of the book.
