Jens Rupp has been working as a piano teacher for 30 years. With this experience he has created a tutor that combines his previous teaching methods and positive experiences as an educator.
"Meine ersten Fingerübungen" has been carefully adapted to the concept of "Meine erste Klavierschule" and its continuation "Meine zweite Klavierschule" and represents a practical aid as well as a meaningful supplement. The 45 included finger exercises are suitable for the first and second years of tuition. They promote fluency, flexibility, strength and endurance of the fingers as well as the coordination of right and left hand. The often neglected weaker fourth and fifth fingers are also trained. The well thought-out, logically structured build-up of the short lessons makes learning easier and furthermore motivates (from the second half of the book) with sonically effective exercises.
The first exercises in the C major basic position are played "unisono" (both hands play the same notes an octave apart). They also provide the opportunity to practise note reading of the "first notes". Afterwards both hands are shifted unisono within the range of the C major scale. This approach serves, among other things, to improve orientation with regard to the keys and note names. In the second half of the book the finger exercises are mostly kept in the basic positions of the keys A minor, F major, D minor and G major. To create the necessary variety and to further promote finger coordination and general orientation on the keyboard, less is played unisono. The minor-key exercises are sonically appealing, easy to play but effective and are gladly practised. Among them are also exercises that will remind you of familiar material from classical and rock/pop music.
As time for practising is often limited by school or work, the concept of "Meine ersten Fingerübungen" is excellent for achieving the greatest possible progress with relatively little practice effort. This quickly leads to audible and tangible success experiences on the instrument.
