Product information "Oberheim OB-X8 desktop module"
OBERHEIM IS BACK - now also as a desktop version!
The OB-X8 is an eight-voice polyphonic analogue synthesizer that combines all the features of the legends OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 from the 1980s - including all the original presets that gave the three synth classics their inimitable character back then.
OB-X8 is completely analogue, full of warmth and power. It's the same unmistakable Oberheim sound that made legendary songs like 1999 by Prince, Jump by Van Halen or Tom Sawyer byRush so unforgettable.
The individual filter types and other characteristic features of each model have been faithfully reproduced to provide an authentic and unique OB experience. In addition, the individual sounds of the originals can also be combined and mixed to create soundscapes that were never possible with the original synths.
Creating the classic OB sound requires more than just adding vintage oscillators, filters and envelopes. Oberheim has deeply analysed all the complex interactions between the various components of the OB series and faithfully reproduced their subtle nuances and character.
The result is an incredible combination in one instrument, while remaining faithful to its predecessors, with all the warmth, subtlety and character of the original classics.
New features such as SEM filter modes, per-voice panning, LFO keyboard tracking, mod delay time, envelope inversion and more are yet to come!
The unique design of the expression levers was an integral part of what made the OB series famous.
For even more expressive power than the originals, the OB-X8 features a premium Fatar keyboard with velocity response and aftertouch.
Originally founded by Tom Oberheim in 1969, Oberheim Electronics developed groundbreaking products that fuelled the electronic music revolution in the 1970s and early 1980s. After the company ceased trading in 1985, these instruments achieved almost mythical status.
