Our guitar department is a crowd-puller for historical reasons alone: the idea for Musik Produktiv was born in the early 1970s when a young teacher-training student set off westwards in his rickety VW camper to grab, on the far side of the Channel, the guitars and amplifiers that German and continental European guitarists had only dreamed of until then.

After decades of steady prosperity, the Musik Produktiv guitar department still represents an important hub in the European guitar and music scene. The figures speak for themselves: 1,600 square metres of exhibition space across two floors make room for over 1,500 guitars and basses, for 1,000 different guitar effects, for hundreds of amplifiers and speaker cabinets, as well as for cables and every other kind of accessory. With us you can be sure of finding the right instrument - whether you are a beginner, intermediate player or pro.

Typical of the department's outstanding status are the two amp rooms for guitar and bass amplifiers, each of which allows instant switching between some 75 amp heads and 50 speaker cabinets to create the perfect comparison setup. The switching matrix is world leading: all switching processes are monitored and regulated automatically. Impedance matching for valve amplifiers therefore no longer matters. You read that right. Feel free to bring your own rig and be amazed by this extraordinary performance.

In the Red Salon, the holy grail of our guitar sales team, you'll find the crème de la crème of the hottest custom shops from Fender, Gibson and other top manufacturers. Fans of unamplified guitar tones are of course well catered for here too. In our acoustic guitar showrooms you'll find everything from entry-level instruments to collectors' items that every musician's heart desires. Climate control ensures optimal conditions for these sensitive instruments, and isolated test booths offer a detailed listening experience in a cosy atmosphere.

Brian Ball, grandson of the legendary string inventor and rock'n'roll pioneer Ernie Ball, said on his last visit: "I have never seen anything like that, I wish every guitar store in the world would be just a little bit like this."
