The Waves CLA Classic Compressors are a selection of software compressors developed by Waves in collaboration with the renowned and highly successful engineer Chris Lord‑Alge. Grammy-winner Chris Lord‑Alge, who has worked with artists such as Green Day, U2, the Dave Matthews Band, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, James Brown, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five and many others, has contributed his many years of experience to the Waves CLA Classic Compressors. The result is the four Waves CLA Classic Compressors and limiters: CLA-2A, CLA-3A and the CLA-76s Bluey and Blacky, modelled on classic originals. Thus the CLA-2A in the Waves CLA Classic Compressors is based on a mid-1960s electro‑optical tube compressor for guitar, bass and vocals; the CLA-3A is modelled on a 1970s unit offering light harmonic saturation; while the two CLA-76s are based on 1960s compressors for drums.
