The perfect rock guitar

Few guitar models have influenced generations of musicians as strongly as the Gibson Les Paul. Over the years several model variants have been introduced, but most players want an instrument that closely follows the originals from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Available at session in top quality and Made in USA, the Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s is on offer. The photo shows the model in Bourbon Burst.

Rock history you can hold in your hands

Peter Frampton, Slash and modern bands like In Flames use the classic Gibson Les Paul live and in the studio. A "Paula" not only looks amazing with its maple top, it is also sonically very versatile and has proven itself across genres from rock and pop to metal. The glued-in mahogany neck in the mahogany body, the fixed bridge and the two humbucker pickups give the instrument its unmistakable, lively tone. So: be sure to pick it up, try it and be convinced!

With a Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s you don't just become part of music history. In times of constant change you also support a traditional company that brings people together with passion and craftsmanship. A place where sustainable and, above all, durable musical instruments are created. An investment that's worth it.

The facts: The scale length of the Les Paul 60s is 628 mm. The 22 medium frets are cryogenically treated. The fretboard is rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia). Fretboard inlays are trapezoid. The Graph Tech nut is 43 mm wide.

A look at the two Burstbucker pickups (61T at the bridge and 61R at the neck). To reproduce the sound of the legendary PAF models as faithfully as possible, the humbucker coils are wound differently and are not wax-potted. That makes them more prone to feedback, but it lets the instrument sing more.

Back to the roots!

With the Les Paul Standard '60s, Gibson USA is finally offering a no-nonsense Les Paul in a classic design and look. You won't find any weight reliefs and push/pull pots here.

The Gibson USA program has been further streamlined and optimised. High performance models no longer exist. Some models are only available with one or two color variations and again some models have been completely removed from the range. The Modern Collection is brand new. Here you will find the Studio, Classic and Tribute models, as well as the Les Paul Modern, for which there is also an SG variant. The SG Standard and the SG Tribute complete the program. The Les Paul Traditional became the Les Paul Standard again and is now available with either a '50s or a' 60s slim taper neck. It can be found in the Original Collection together with several SG variants.

About Gibson

The American Gibson Guitar Corporation, founded in 1902 by Orville Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, first became known for the production of mandolins and banjos. Today the company’s headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee, and Gibson is one of the world’s most renowned and respected manufacturers of electric guitars.

The model Les Paul, named after its creator Lester William Polsfuss, is one of the most famous and best‑selling electric guitar shapes of all time and established the single‑cut guitar form, which has been copied, adopted and reinterpreted by numerous other manufacturers. The Les Paul is mainly prized for its sound, characterised as warm and full. The humbucker pickup largely responsible for that sound, in its now common design, was developed by Seth Lover at Gibson.

In the early 1960s the Gibson SG appeared as another solid‑body electric from Gibson. Originally intended as the successor to the Les Paul, it became — helped by Angus Young of AC/DC — another rock‑history icon and is the basis for the double‑cutaway guitar type.

With the Flying V and the Explorer Gibson is responsible for two body shapes that, although they were far ahead of their time when introduced in the late 1950s, have over the years also achieved legendary status. They still serve as the foundation for a host of heavy guitars today, for example from makers such as Jackson or ESP.

The Gibson Custom Shop produces custom orders, high‑quality one‑offs and precise replicas of famous models and legendary instrument years. These are often subjected to an artificial ageing process called relicing.

Almost as long as the company has existed, acoustic guitars have also been produced. The J‑45, the Hummingbird, the L‑00 and the SJ‑200 are among the world’s most beloved steel‑string acoustics and were the instruments of choice for Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and John Lennon.

Besides the instruments already mentioned, you can of course also buy picks, bags and cases or merchandise from Gibson with us.

We are particularly proud to host a Gibson Flagship Store in our Frankfurt branch. There you’ll find not only a large selection and exclusive models to try out in person, but you’ll also benefit from the expertise of our Gibson‑trained and certified staff when choosing the perfect guitar.
