When it comes to active pickups in electric guitars, opinions differ on the one hand, but on the other hand only one name is mentioned: EMG. Like so many other pickup manufacturers, EMG also started out in the mid-1970s in their family's garage. The first companies were called Dirtywork Studios and Overlend, until finally in 1983 EMG Inc. was founded. And for those who don't know yet - and that's most of you - EMG stands for Electro - Magnetic Generator.
The EMG 85X has even more headroom, which gives it an organic and open tone, but still retains the EMG-typical clarity and response. The newly developed preamp and Alnico V magnets make it perfect for everything from classic blues to the most extreme metal. It can be used in any position and complements any other EMG pickup perfectly.
