The Electro Harmonix Mega Seller LPB-1 Linear Power Booster has been in the program since 1968, a boost pedal that can blow even the dullest amp properly. With the LPB-3, Electro Harmonix has a contemporary, updated variation in their program. The pedal combines a linear booster with up to 33 dB boost with an efficient EQ. The internal operating voltage is transformed to 30 volts, which allows for a high headroom without significant background noise. An active 3-band EQ with semi-parametric mids is also on board – the slope of the midrange can be switched from low to high. The bypass mode can be switched internally from true to buffered bypass.

Het apparaatje feeft een extra gain plus een frequentie regeling. Het kleine ontwerp veroorzaakt kleine regelknopjes die niet lekker te bewerken zijn. Al met al wel een aardig pedaaltje..
Habe bisher 30 Jahre meinen Boss SD-1 als Booster genommen (Level 15, Tone 13, Drive 9 Uhr). Wenn's trotzdem nicht durch den Livemix ging auch mal ein cocked Wah für's Solo gesetzt. Für die Mandoline habe ich einen MXR Micro Amp+, der auch bei Gitarren einen guten Job macht. Mit dem LPB-3 muss man allerdings keine Kompromisse zwischen Durchsetzungskraft und unschöne Höhen machen. Den kann man sehr fein an das Instrument und den Bandmix anpassen, um seine Lücke für Sololinien zu finden.
