The Grand Auditorium body, with a body depth of 4 5/8" (117 mm), an upper bout width of 11 1/2" (292 mm) and a lower bout of 16" (405 mm), sits perfectly between the larger Dreadnought and the smaller Grand Concert. This makes the auditorium body ideal for strumming/flatpicking and fingerstyle playing, suited to versatile acoustic guitarists who want one instrument to cover a wide range of sounds and playing styles.
Sitka spruce provides an ideal balance of stiffness and flexibility and is therefore the most popular choice for acoustic guitar tops. As a guitar top, Sitka spruce is the modern-day standard tonewood. The combination of stiffness and elasticity yields a wide dynamic range that enables clear articulation.
Using a special process called ATV (Aged To Vintage), Cort's luthiers treat the solid Sitka spruce top and bracing to produce a full, open tone reminiscent of a decades-old acoustic guitar. This torrefaction process delivers that remarkable tone straight out of the box and makes the guitar more stable in tuning and increasingly resonant over time.
