Handmade in Vienna, every OC7 undergoes the strictest quality controls before it is shipped. At the heart of the new microphone is the OCC7 small-diaphragm capsule, also handmade in Vienna. In-house design and manufacture allow perfect tuning for each application.
In typical Austrian Audio fashion, the OC7 is not just another instrument microphone but again offers several special features. Most notable is the "Swivel Joint" mechanism. To make positioning the instrument microphone easier, Austrian Audio's engineers have developed a suspension for the microphone basket that allows a 220° rotation. This enables the microphone to be aimed precisely at the sound source or aligned according to personal tonal preferences without having to awkwardly adjust or loosen the mic stand. Various annoyances such as falling microphones or fingers trapped in the mic stand are now a thing of the past.
With its open and transparent sound, the OC7 is a very flexible instrument microphone. Thanks to the strengths of the OCC7 small-diaphragm capsule handmade in Vienna, it is ideally suited to all instruments with particularly lively transients. These include all kinds of percussion instruments including the snare and toms on a drum kit, but also piano and acoustic guitar. Its open, silky sound also makes it excellent for string instruments.
