Ibanez SA

The SA series consists of solid-body electric guitars that have been produced and sold by Ibanez since 2000. Since their launch the guitars have been produced continuously and are regarded as an affordable entry point to the S series. If we had to describe the Ibanez SA series in just one word, it would be: "versatile".

The most noticeable difference to the S series is that, while the SA body retains the S series' arched top, the SA body has a flat back and is therefore overall not as thin. Most SA models are also equipped with a non-locking synchronized floating tremolo system. Apart from a handful of outliers, all SA models feature either an HSS (one humbucker and two single-coils) or a dual-humbucker pickup configuration.

The first models of the series were the SA160, SA260, GSA20 and GSA60, the latter two as part of Ibanez's GIO entry-level line. Apart from the components, the GIO SA models differ by having a straight headstock instead of the angled design of the non-GIO models, as well as by the placement of the output jack on the side of the body instead of an angled jack on the top of the guitar like on the other S and SA models.
