Small mic – big sound.
The new sE8 is a high-quality small-diaphragm microphone with outstanding sonic characteristics. The elaborately manufactured electrode enables a very balanced and particularly natural reproduction of all kinds of instruments. This also allows intensive use of EQs or filters without making the recording unpleasant. With the highest dynamic range and the best overload tolerance in its class, plus practical switchable attenuation and high-pass filters, the sE8 offers unbeatable flexibility for any application in the studio and on stage.

Handmade small-diaphragm capsule
Each capsule is handcrafted and individually tuned in the sE factory with great attention to detail. The ultra-thin, gold-sputtered diaphragm delivers impressive transient response and captures even the smallest details. The precisely manufactured electrode has been optimised for maximum linearity and natural reproduction, resulting in a very even, balanced frequency response.

Precise, frequency-homogeneous polar pattern
Thanks to the mature acoustic design with precision parts, a largely frequency-homogeneous polar pattern is achieved. This avoids coloration, especially in demanding recordings.

The lowest-noise small-diaphragm microphone in its class
The extremely short signal path, discrete components and optimised Class-A circuitry make the sE8 one of the quietest microphones on the market – by far the quietest in its class. A novel circuit concept with a transformerless output stage provides outstanding transparency, enormous dynamic range and very low distortion.

Two-stage attenuation pad
High flexibility and an extended dynamic range are provided by the attenuation pad. The two stages prevent overload of the electronics and of the connected mic preamp or audio interface right at the start of the signal chain. This allows very loud instruments like brass and snares to be miced even at close range without problems.

Two-position high-pass filter
The integrated high-pass can be switched between 80 Hz and 160 Hz to reduce unwanted rumble and footfall noise, and to tame the bass boost that results from close miking (proximity effect).

Robust metal body and high-quality finishes
The thoughtful construction is particularly durable and effectively shields the electronics against electromagnetic interference.

Gold-plated XLR connector
The corrosion-free contacts enable lossless and reliable transmission for many years.

Hand-selected stereo pair sE8 StereoSet
Convincing stereo recordings require microphones with the highest consistency and outstanding performance. At sE, each pair is selected from hundreds of individual microphones to ensure nearly identical transmission characteristics. This is the only way to achieve the highest possible correlation across the entire frequency range and an almost identical sensitivity. The result is breathtaking, almost three-dimensional recordings.
