With the Riverside pedal, the High End Digital FX Forge Strymon has embarked on new territory. The Riverside is an extremely versatile Overdrive/Distortion pedal. The signal processing is very unusual: a discretely constructed Class A JFET input stage is combined with a powerful DSP. The analog gain section is controlled by a DSP to achieve a maximum headroom of up to 20 dB. Enough of the theory - what can it do? A lot! The pedal covers the range from slight distortion, over-saturated crunch to high gain. The dynamics correspond to a good, analog pedal. The gain range can be switched twice, a midboost function is also on board. A preset can be stored and activated via a foot pedal, and an optional expression pedal can be used to remote control any potentiometer. Any noise or hum can be effectively combated with the internal noise gate. Strymon mastered the balancing act between analog and digital technology with flying colours!

... ist der Strymon Zerrer. Spiele ihn an einem Einkanalamp und er macht im Proberaum schon mal richtig Spass. Komprimiert nicht so und bleibt auch im High Gain ‚verständlich’. Aber man muss sich schon einige Stunden damit befassen, um die Möglichkeiten von dem Teil zu checken. Zuhause mit reduzierter Leistung (5 Watt) finde ich das Ergebnis nicht so überragend. Aber vielleicht entdecke ich das auch noch... Er bekommt definitiv einen festen Platz auf meinem Board :)
