Martin D-17
Product information "Martin D-17"
The Martin D-17 is a bold new addition to the refreshed Standard Series. It combines vintage-inspired features with modern refinements for players looking for rich tones and improved playability. This 14-fret dreadnought model is handcrafted and features a satin-finished solid mahogany body that delivers a warm, woody tone. The Golden Era (GE) Sitka spruce top bracing, also used in the Modern Deluxe series, provides an airy vintage tone, while the modern GE ebony belly bridge with smoother corners provides greater comfort and resonance. Playability is paramount on the D-17. It features a satin neck made from select hardwood, a GE-modified low oval profile optimized for vintage appeal, and a thinner ebony fingerboard with a gently beveled edge. The refined string spacing is ideal for players who want a comfortable, effortless playing feel. Vintage-inspired details such as a slimmer heel and open nickel tuners give the guitar a timeless, elegant look. Whether you're strumming big chords or playing intricate melodies, the D-17 delivers a powerful, dynamic sound with a classic vintage vibe that is anything but standard.

The company C.F. Martin & Co., or simply Martin Guitars, can look back on a long company tradition and several innovative inventions. Chief among these is the development of the dreadnought shape and thus the steel‑string acoustic guitar as we know it today. With this, the family business, which spans over 175 years, has shaped the music world to this day. Innovations introduced by Martin that became standard in guitar making also include guitars with 14 frets clear of the body as well as X‑bracing. This allows greater stability and load-bearing capacity of the top (soundboard) thanks to strips glued to the inside of the top. To this day Martin guitars are renowned for their high quality and, of course, for their tone, and are very popular among guitarists. You can find a wide selection with us in the shop or in our branches ready to play. In our Martin Premium steel‑string acoustic guitars section you'll also find a selection of the finest acoustic guitar models from all Martin series.
The name of the US company Martin Guitars, actually C.F. Martin & Co., Inc., has stood for the highest quality and innovation in the construction of stringed instruments since 1833. When people think of Martin they immediately think of the acoustic guitar, since the company founder and German emigrant Christian Friedrich Martin gave the instruments the form we still know and appreciate today. Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.
