With the new D-40 models from the USA Standard series, Guild Guitars introduces the first guitars with the new, in-house Vintage Gloss Nitro finish. This finish is an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer that emphasises the natural beauty of the instrument while allowing the wood to vibrate more freely than conventional finishes. The finish is sprayed on by hand and gives the guitar a broken-in feel from the very first moment.
This new version of the Guild D-40 Standard delivers the ultimate dreadnought sound. With its solid body featuring a Sitka spruce top and back and sides of African mahogany, the D-40 Standard offers remarkable volume, clarity and sustain, making it ideal for a wide range of musical applications, from accompanying vocals to solo work and many other unplugged contexts. The forward-shifted X-bracing of American red spruce (Adirondack) produces a punchy sound with a little more high end than you're used to from a dreadnought. The Guild D-40 Standard exudes vintage charm with timeless appointments such as a tortoise celluloid pickguard, white ABS binding and the Guild peak logo inlay on the headstock. An Indian rosewood fretboard crowns the comfortable mahogany neck with a C profile. Premium materials such as a rosewood bridge, 20:1 open-back tuners and a hand-sanded, compensated bone nut complete the Guild D-40 Standard. Each Guild D-40 Standard is supplied with a wooden hard case featuring a built-in Humicase system for humidifying the guitar while travelling.
Alongside the classic Natural finish, the new 40 Standard series from Guild also introduces the Pacific Sunset Burst for the first time. Inspired by Guild's Southern California home, this new finish embodies relaxed elegance with a subtle edge burst.
