The Amano brand was founded to interpret Spanish guitars in a contemporary way beyond traditional norms.
The Spanish style of guitar making has perfectly developed construction features that allow guitars to be built with a high degree of craftsmanship, easy response, full tone and long service life at an affordable price. Many players, however, prefer steel-string guitars because of the neck dimensions, the appearance or other characteristics. Since the nylon-string guitar, due to its softer tension, is very suitable for those who do not play very often or have long breaks, we believe there should be a greater variety of models for nylon-string guitars to also reach non-classical players. Therefore Amano works together with leading manufacturers to develop and implement new ideas and models beyond the classic offering.
Amano cooperates in production with leading, long-established guitar manufactories. The production of the Amano Series 3 – 10 takes place at a guitar manufactory near Valencia. It has existed since 1957 and is run by luthiers Manuel Adalid and Juan Hernandez. Our partner HORA S.A. in Romania takes care of the production of the entry-level series 0 – 2. Founded in 1951 as a violin-making manufactory, this manufacturer masters the Spanish construction style so perfectly that it has also built guitar models for the brand of the Spanish market leader, for example.
In addition to the traditional classical guitar models, Amano offers a wide model palette whose features are also attractive to non-classical players:
SMALL NECK (-SN) – 48 mm nut width
Small necks provide enough room for most guitar techniques. They are often the preferred choice of players with smaller hands or those accustomed to narrower necks. Modern and popular chord shapes — for example with the thumb — are easier to execute on a small-neck guitar.
OPEN PORE (-OP) – ultra-thin finish without pore-filling material
The thin, featherlight finish lets the instrument vibrate freely – the result is a quick response and greater dynamics. And incidentally, the finish with its open surface looks very natural.
SOUNDPORT - A second sound opening in the upper bout of the guitar
The soundport directs the guitar's sound loudly and clearly towards the player. This leads to a more dynamic sonic experience for the player and thus significantly more playing enjoyment. (Standard on all models except those with pickups)
SAPELLI TOP (-S)
The wood species of the Top (soundboard) decisively influences the guitar's tonal character and response. In the classical field cedar and spruce have become established – Amano also uses other high-performing woods that are convincing as top woods. They give the instrument a new acoustic character and appearance – with the same quality in function and durability.
Cutaway-Electric (-CE)
Amano also offers guitar models with cutaways and Fishman pickup systems.
