The Austrian Audio OC818 black Dual Set Plus consisting of two OC818 black microphones, two OCS8 elastic mounts, two OCC8 mini XLR adapters, two OCH8 microphone clamps, two OCW8 windscreens, an OCDC1 case and the new, adjustable SB1 stereo bar is perfect for high-resolution, very flexible studio or live use.
They can be used, for example, as overheads for drums, for various stereo miking of instruments such as acoustic guitar or grand piano, for two guitar amps or two singers. The Austrian Audio OC818, handmade in Vienna, is the pinnacle of the Austrian Audio large diaphragm microphone series.
The outstanding technical specifications of the OC818, such as the vanishingly low self-noise of 9 dB SPL (A), the high sensitivity, the design and its incredible flexibility make it one of the most advanced microphones for studio and live use. As the CKR12 capsule, which is sonically modelled on the legendary CK12 capsule, is made of ceramic, the series dispersion is so low that any OC818 and / or OC18 (non-switchable version) can be used in combination to create a "matched pair". In terms of sound, the OC818 can be used with pretty much any sound source thanks to its natural and refined sound. It is excellently suited for acoustic guitar, piano, as drum overheads, for vocals, in front of electric guitar amplifiers and much more.
Both diaphragms of the OC818 can be recorded separately via mini XLR. With the free PolarDesigner plugin from Austrian Audio, you can take full control of the OC818 and change the polar pattern even after recording, create individual polar patterns over 1 to 5 different frequency bands, attenuate or emphasise certain frequencies or instruments and save, recall or share presets. Alternatively, the OCR8 Bluetooth dongle (not included) can be used via the mini XLR connection to wirelessly control the polar pattern (over 255 options), pad and high-pass filter. This is done via Austrian Audio's PolarPilot app for iOS and Android, which is also available free of charge. A preset can even be saved and recalled directly in the OC818. Other freely available tools include the StereoCreator plugin for four-channel recordings, three different stereo techniques (XY/MS/Blumlein) and changing the stereo width (in addition to stereo recordings with just one OC818) and the AmbiCreator plugin for VR and 360-degree applications.
