Following the successful Imperial Preamp comes the second offering from Tone King: the Royalist Preamp, the pedal-preamp version of the Royalist amp — classic British tone is on the menu. As with the Royalist amp, two identical channels are available, each with three voicings: 1964 (JTM45/Bluesbreaker), 1967 (Plexi SL) and 1970 (Super Lead). As with the Royalist amps, the output power can be reduced without loss of tone (simulated Iron Man attenuator). The Royalist Preamp uses, just like the Imperial Preamp, the patented Zero Watt power amp with phase inverter circuit — authentic power-amp overdrive and dynamics are handled with ease. On board is an IR loader, and several first-class IRs from the renowned IR studio OwnHammer are preinstalled. Additional IRs can be loaded via the free editor/library software.

Tone King from Baltimore, USA, is a manufacturer of vintage valve amplifiers founded in 1993 by Mark Bartel. Among the most popular are the heads and combos from the Imperial and Gremlin series. In addition to the high-quality amplifiers, Tone King is particularly known for the much-praised Ironman Attenuator, which preserves the amplifier's tonal character very faithfully even at low power.
