The UF1 is the ultimate single-fader controller that optimises your in-the-box productions with the legendary SSL workflow and high-end controls – a motorised 100-mm fader, two high-resolution colour displays, durable RGB "Soft Feel" rubber buttons with a soft tactile response and a weighted jog wheel, all in a rugged metal chassis with a premium look. With the UF1 you have complete control over pans, sends and plug-in parameters, can assign 46 softkeys to suit your workflow and can control up to three DAWs at once. The clear and insightful visual feedback, intuitive control and deep integration are further enhanced by the included SSL Meter PlugIn and the SSL 360° software. The UF1 features DAW profiles for Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Studio One, Ableton Live, LUNA and Pyramix. High-quality transport buttons and a weighted jog/scrub wheel make working comfortable, fast and efficient. Secondary transport buttons can be assigned to important workflow shortcuts, e.g. Loop On/Off and Click on Track On/Off. Or hold the shift key for quick access to DAW automation modes. The motorised premium 100-mm SSL fader offers precise control when writing automation and, of course, fine control of track level in recording and mixing sessions. The UF1's two high-resolution displays provide detailed visual feedback for DAW track names, parameters, timecode, the SSL Meter PlugIn and 360°-capable channel strips in the SSL plug-in mixer. Control SSL channel-strip plug-ins directly from the UF1: the EQ curve of the plug-in is shown on the large display while gate/compression activity is shown on the small display. The large stepped encoder enables track banking, mouse-wheel emulation (focus mode) and volume control.
In addition to comprehensive DAW control, every UF1 purchase includes a perpetual licence for the SSL Meter PlugIn (RRP 99.99). The Meter PlugIn is visualised on the large 4.3" display and is controlled directly from the UF1 surface or the SSL 360° plug-in mixer. The Meter PlugIn includes essential metering tools such as peak and RMS levels, K-system, stereo balance, phase correlation bars, Lissajous phase scope, 31-band RTA, VU and PPM metering.
The UF1 can be used alone or in combination with UF8 to provide even deeper SSL DAW control. UF1 is also the perfect hardware extension for the UC1 SSL plug-in controller, giving you fader control and easy access to SSL 360°-capable channel-strip parameters plus visual feedback of EQ curves. Das Gerät kommt grundsätzlich sehr hochwertig daher, super verarbeitet - aus ästhetischer Sicht sehr schön gemacht. Es lässt sich sehr leicht installieren und mit der DAW verknüpfen. Dann ist es halt aber so, dass es fast zu viel kann/könnte. Man kann sich ganz viele Shortcuts einrichten, welche aber eher mühselig über die entsprechende App zu erfassen sind. Die absolut simpelsten Befehle wie «gehe zu Marker 1» oder Punch-in/Punch-out konnte ich aber noch nicht einrichten. Ich werde mich wohl durch alle Youtube-Tutorials gähnen müssen, um die Lösungen für meine Fragen zu finden. Auswahl der Spur auf die aufgenommen werden soll funktioniert nur in 50 % der Fälle auf Anhieb, das «scharfmachen» der Spur ebenfalls. Wie gesagt, vermutlich ein tolles Teil, wenn man alle Funktionen ergründet hat, der Weg dahin ist aber etwas steinig und holperig. Erfahrungen mit einfacheren Geräten (z. B. Presonus Faderport V2) waren ehrlich gesagt besser, auch wenn die Funktionalitäten in Funktion mit Cubase etwas dürftig ausgefallen sind.
