With the SG Standard, Gibson once again relies on the tried and tested: mahogany body and neck, two humbuckers, the "big" pickguard again and only two colour variants.
The Gibson USA program has been further streamlined and optimised. High performance models no longer exist. Some models are only available with one or two color variations and again some models have been completely removed from the range. The Modern Collection is brand new. Here you will find the Studio, Classic and Tribute models, as well as the Les Paul Modern, for which there is also an SG variant. The SG Standard and the SG Tribute complete the program. The Les Paul Traditional became the Les Paul Standard again and is now available with either a '50s or a' 60s slim taper neck. It can be found in the Original Collection together with several SG variants.

The American Gibson Guitar Corporation, founded in 1902 by Orville Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, first became known for the production of mandolins and banjos. Today the company’s headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee, and Gibson is one of the world’s most renowned and respected manufacturers of electric guitars.
The model Les Paul, named after its creator Lester William Polsfuss, is one of the most famous and best‑selling electric guitar shapes of all time and established the single‑cut guitar form, which has been copied, adopted and reinterpreted by numerous other manufacturers. The Les Paul is mainly prized for its sound, characterised as warm and full. The humbucker pickup largely responsible for that sound, in its now common design, was developed by Seth Lover at Gibson.
In the early 1960s the Gibson SG appeared as another solid‑body electric from Gibson. Originally intended as the successor to the Les Paul, it became — helped by Angus Young of AC/DC — another rock‑history icon and is the basis for the double‑cutaway guitar type.
With the Flying V and the Explorer Gibson is responsible for two body shapes that, although they were far ahead of their time when introduced in the late 1950s, have over the years also achieved legendary status. They still serve as the foundation for a host of heavy guitars today, for example from makers such as Jackson or ESP.
The Gibson Custom Shop produces custom orders, high‑quality one‑offs and precise replicas of famous models and legendary instrument years. These are often subjected to an artificial ageing process called relicing.
Almost as long as the company has existed, acoustic guitars have also been produced. The J‑45, the Hummingbird, the L‑00 and the SJ‑200 are among the world’s most beloved steel‑string acoustics and were the instruments of choice for Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and John Lennon.

Die SG Standard liegt gut in der Hand, man merkt, dass man eine hochwertige Gitarre in Händen hält. Die Balance beim Spielen mit Gurt (lag bei!) ist völlig ausgewogen, der Hals lässt sich hervorragend greifen, auch am Sound gibt es nichts zu meckern. Zwar gibt es keinen Koffer als Zubehör, sondern nur ein Gigbag; dieses ist aber ebenso hochwertig wie die Gitarre, das Material ist weich und angenehm, die Gitarre wird von einer dicken Isolierung geschützt und der Hals bekommt festen Halt durch einen Klettverschluss. Es macht Spaß, die Gitarre aus der Tasche zu holen und loszuspielen - so soll es sein. Der Versand durch Musik Produktiv erfolgte zügig und problemlos, wie man es von einer Traditionsfirma erwarten kann.
Gibson has returned to making their best guitars in years. The build quality is great and the sound is perfect - the good, fat gibson sound. This is also more versatile guitar than les paul, and lighter. Great guitar.

Micros 490R et 490t. Connus pour offrir un son rond et chaleureux en position manche et un son tranchant et agressif en position chevalet. La réputation du 490t est d'être le micro qui a le meilleur son en position intermédiaire quand il est associé au 490R. On est très proche de l'esprit telecaster et vous pourrez même jouer du funk avec le micro 490t ou un solo bien rond et puissant avec le 490R. Les deux ensembles, on est complètement dans un son plus indie rock, idéal pour les accords et arpèges entre autres.... La lutherie est d'une qualité hallucinante. Gibson signe là une guitare irréprochable. Vraiment une belle sensation de solidité et des good vibes garanties ! Branchée en son crunch dans un fender blues junior lacquered tweed, c'est le bonheur. Surprenant ? J'ai deux amplis plus "méchants" et nombre de pédales mais l'intérêt de cet instrument est d'être à l'aise dans tous les domaines. On est complètement dans une configuration qui permet tous les styles, toutes les audaces. J'ai 43 ans et je rêvais d'une sg depuis toujours. Ce millesime me comble. Un grand bravo à Gibson et à Music Productiv qui fait un super travail. Même l'emballage est hyper bien fait. C'est important quand on commande une guitare et que l'on ne souhaite pas la recevoir cassée ! J'ai lu que certains esprits chagrins regrettent déjà qu'elle soit livrée en housse et non en hardcase. Hé bien... En fait on est entre les deux. C'est une housse avec une structure interne très solide. On peut la trimballer sur son dos comme une housse mais la conception est celle d'un hard case ( attendez de voir l'intérieur... Superbe) la guitare est bien protégée et maintenue par un système d'attache intérieur. On a le meilleur des deux mondes. Pour finir, je suis particulièrement content que le 490t soit mis à l'honneur cette année. C'est une SG de son temps : Vintage mais dégageant une réelle impression de solidité. Pouvant aller du Rockabilly au heavy. Elle est vraiment parfaite !
