Roland TR-8S Rhythm Performer B-Stock

Product information "Roland TR-8S Rhythm Performer B-Stock"

With the TR-8S, Roland combines its influential drum machines with modern production techniques and professional sound design. Through precise modelling, the TR-8S reproduces the 808, 606, 909, 707 and 727 drum machines down to the smallest detail.

In addition, the TR drums can now be combined with samples to create unique hybrid and layer kits. You can use the comprehensive collection of preset samples or load your own mono and stereo sounds via the integrated SD card slot. As with the TR sounds, the samples can also be edited down to the last detail using the intuitive controllers.

The effects of the Roland TR-8S are also interesting. In addition to the Master FX control, each channel has a customisable CTRL control, which gives you quick access to a wide range of sound processing options at any time. You can assign any desired effect parameter to the CTRL or Master FX control and save it individually for each kit.

To programme patterns, you can either use the 16 TR-REC buttons or the velocity-sensitive performance pads to perform live or record in the sequencer. You can also switch seamlessly between playing and editing. The TR-8S offers memory for up to 128 patterns, each with eight variations and three different types of fills.

Each TR-8S pattern can contain up to two fills, which can be customised or programmed from scratch. By automatically setting fills every 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 bars, you have your hands free for other actions. Roland's TR-8S has eight separate analogue outputs.

This allows you to send the individual drum sounds to various effects devices or to integrate them into separate channels of a mixing console or into a DAW. There is also a dedicated trigger output and a stereo audio input. It is also great that the assignable outputs can be used as additional trigger outputs. This allows you to control external instruments and mix them with the internal sounds of the TR-8S.

The integrated audio/MIDI interface establishes the connection to the computer and enables each individual part to be recorded on a separate track. Compared to its predecessor, the TR-8, there have also been some visual changes. Using the RGB colour faders and the TR-REC buttons, you can adjust the brightness and colour of each individual element to your own requirements.

In addition to the great look, this also provides visual feedback. As you can save every conceivable setting on an SD card, you can load your own sets onto a new or reset TR-8S at any time. With the TR-8S, Roland has once again created a very comprehensive drum machine that will delight both studio musicians and live performers.

About Roland

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.
