Audio Production Studio

Mixer, recorder and dual audio interface in a single unit – the perfect solution for podcasters and content creators. The compact and only 23 cm wide RØDECaster Duo offers state-of-the-art technology with ultra-low-noise microphone preamps and studio effects while remaining extremely simple and intuitive to operate. A 5.5" HD touchscreen, logically arranged controls and professional channel presets with Quick Editor ensure a swift workflow. If you wish, you can also dive deep into the parameters of the signal processing. Proven mixer setups can be saved with all settings as a “Show” and recalled at the touch of a button.

Mixer

The RØDECaster Duo has seven freely assignable input channels, four of them with long 100 mm faders as well as Select, Mute and Solo buttons. The remaining three input channels are virtual and are controlled via the touchscreen and encoder. The following connections or signal sources can be assigned to the channels: the rear Neutrik combo sockets (XLR/TRS), the front headset socket (3.5 mm TRRS), RØDE Wireless, Bluetooth®, USB1, USB2 and SMART Pad audio. The two combo sockets accept microphones (XLR) or electric guitars/line sources (jack). The ultra-low-noise high-gain preamps (up to 76 dB of gain) deliver a crystal-clear audio signal – even with insensitive dynamic vocal microphones. Phantom power (48 V) can be switched on for condenser microphones. Mix-Minus and Ducking functions can be activated if required, which is useful when incorporating remote guests.

Wireless

Thanks to broadband Bluetooth® music and speech are received in first-class quality, and signal output to an external Bluetooth speaker is also possible. There is also a built-in wireless receiver: you can connect a RØDE Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO transmitter or Interview PRO directly to the RØDECaster Duo; firmware updates can be carried out conveniently over Wi‑Fi.

Recorder

If you insert an optional microSD card into the rear slot, the RØDECaster Duo can be used as a standalone recorder. Alternatively, you can connect a suitable (sufficiently fast) USB‑C storage device. Start recording simply by pressing the red REC button at the top left of the display. Recording can be performed in stereo or multitrack. Of course, the RØDECaster Duo can also be used as an audio interface and record to your computer.

Dual Audio Interface

The RØDECaster Duo offers two independently usable audio interfaces. The rear USB‑C sockets (1 and 2) can connect two computers or two smartphones or a combination, and thanks to MFi certification also iOS devices.

SMART Pads

The six programmable SMART Pads are used to trigger or play back audio files and to trigger MIDI commands, Voice FX, mixer actions such as fade‑in and fade‑out, and other functions. Two bank change buttons provide access to a further 7 banks for a total of 48 actions. The SMART Pads can be loaded with your own audio files using the free RØDE Central software; the RØDECaster Duo provides 4 GB of internal storage for this purpose. You can also record audio (the mix) directly onto the pads.

Signal processing and effects

All input signals (analogue and digital) can be extensively processed and each can be individually treated with a high-pass filter, de-esser, noise gate, compressor, 3-band EQ, Aphex Exciter and Aphex Big Bottom and positioned in the stereo panorama (Pan L/R). The RØDECaster Duo also offers studio effects Reverb and Delay (Echo), voice effects Megaphone, Robot, Disguise and Pitch Shifter, and the Aphex Compellor (master compressor) for the mix.

Power supply

Power is supplied via the included external power supply, which is connected to the third USB‑C socket (next to the power switch). For mobile use the power supply can simply be replaced by an optional 30 W USB‑C PD powerbank.
