Pure Tone has taken on one of the weak points of a jack socket: the contact surface. A standard jack socket has one contact for the tip and one contact for the ground connection. Often the contact to the tip is bent due to the weight of the plug or other mechanical factors. The jack is often a source of problems with Stratocasters in particular – the 45° mounting of the jack in the jack plate means that the contacts bend relatively often.
