About Joe Satriani
Joe Satriani alias Satch is an American rock guitarist, composer and songwriter, who, alongside his solo career, is also known for his band projects G3 and Chickenfoot.
Joe was born in New York in 1956 and was drawn to rock music by the death of Jimi Hendrix. This event inspired him to teach himself to play guitar. After finishing high school he studied jazz with guitarist Billy Bauer and pianist Lennie Tristano. The latter in particular has shaped Joe's music to this day.
During and after his studies Joe worked as a guitar teacher; among his pupils were his friend Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Kevin Cadogan, Alex Skolnick and numerous other guitarists who later became true stars.
After playing in several bands, Joe recorded his first solo album Not of This Earth, which was released in 1986. His second album Surfing with the Alien followed a year later and contained numerous songs that received regular airplay on US radio. To date Joe has recorded a total of 18 studio albums and remains very active on the rock scene. He is also a member of the hard rock supergroups G3 and Chickenfoot and spent some time touring with Deep Purple.
Characteristic of his playing are both his very lyrical melodic lines and his fast solo passages, which are often filled with his characteristic, fluid legato playing, as well as the virtuosic use of tapping. He draws on various scales and modes, with the Lydian and Mixolydian modes and the blues scale usually at the forefront.
Joe's favourite on stage
While Joe mostly relies on classic electric guitars in the studio, on stage his Ibanez signature models, which you can recognise by the letters JS at the beginning of the model name, set the tone. The Ibanez JS 2450-MCP is one of these instruments. It features an alder body with a three-piece neck of maple and bubinga and is equipped with Joe's favourite pickups: a DiMarzio® Satch Track™ humbucker in single-coil format at the neck and a DiMarzio® Mo' Joe™ humbucker in the bridge position. For both, a high-pass filter can be activated via a push/pull pot. The Ibanez JS 2450-MCP is made in Japan and is delivered in a high-quality hardshell case. A multitool is also included in the scope of delivery.

The Japanese instrument maker Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass construction. Although Ibanez initially made a name for itself with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from makers like Gibson and Fender, its own series gradually emerged, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s the company became particularly well known in the heavy sector with instruments that stood out for their modern features, distinctive design and excellent playability. Innovations such as 7- and 8-string guitars, born from fruitful collaborations with artists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, further helped to establish Ibanez's strong reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, from entry-level guitars and basses to exotic Custom Shop models. In addition, Ibanez also impresses in the field of effects and amplifiers, as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. Here you'll find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
