The EVH Frankenstein - A Piece of Rock History
There are few guitars as famous as Eddie Van Halen's favourite six-string sidekick, affectionately known as "Frankenstein". This guitar was Eddie's attempt to combine the sound of a classic single-cut solidbody guitar with the physical properties and tremolo-arm functionality of a Fender Stratocaster. The EVH Frankenstein "Frankie" series is an evolution of Eddie Van Halen's iconic red-black-and-white Frankenstrat guitar - complete with a worn relic finish.
Construction and Parts
The body of the electric guitar is made from solid basswood and delivers a meaty, snarling tone that lets you bulldoze through any rousing rhythm section with ease. The fitted Wolfgang humbucker provides the classic high-gain sound of Eddie's playing.
Equipped with a slim, quartersawn maple neck and a flat maple fretboard with a compound radius, this guitar is born to shred. The Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo Bridge with EVH D-Tuna lets you effortlessly emulate Eddie's signature tremolo work and gives you instant access to Drop D tuning. The models in the EVH Frankenstein Series are full of classic Van Halen vibe, but most importantly they deliver the Eddie tone and lightning-fast playability.

The Frankie Relic guitars look as if they’ve endured decades of hard stage use. The EVH Frankie Relic Vintage Sunburst follows Eddie’s ‘less is more’ principle: basswood body, maple neck with a comfortable compound radius and Eddie’s special neck profile, one Wolfgang humbucker and the obligatory dummy single‑coil in the neck position with the dummy switch mounted in the middle pickup rout. Also included is the indispensable Floyd Rose tremolo with D‑Tuna.
