The A8H is the flagship model of the A Series. This 3-way speaker delivers the highest degree of resolution and sonic precision – perfect for the most demanding monitoring tasks. The A8H features an 8-inch woofer made from a multi-layer mineral-fibre material (MLM), an innovative midrange driver and ADAM Audio's handcrafted X-ART tweeter. As with all A Series models, the A8H offers innovative features for individual adaptation to personal listening preferences and room acoustics: a rotatable HPS waveguide and integrated DSP technology make this possible. The A8H is suitable for all conceivable monitoring situations in medium and larger rooms. It is the perfect choice when the highest possible fidelity is required.
Rotatable HPS waveguide and X-ART tweeter
The ADAM Audio HPS (High-Frequency Propagation System) waveguide ensures precisely directed sound dispersion with a wide horizontal coverage and tight vertical focus. All A Series models use the rotatable HPS waveguide design, which allows the tweeter to be rotated by 90 degrees. This means the monitor can be used both vertically and horizontally – without losing the benefits of the waveguide.
The A Series HPS waveguide is manufactured from a novel fibreglass-polymer material. Its high density minimises unwanted resonances and supports a clear sound image. At the centre of the rotatable HPS waveguide sits the ADAM Audio X-ART tweeter. Handcrafted in Germany, this tweeter guarantees maximum transient response and detail. All A Series models are equipped with this X-ART tweeter.
Multi-layer mineral woofer
The diaphragm of an A Series woofer consists of several firmly bonded layers of a mineral-fibre material. This material combines minimal weight with very high stiffness. The exact composition has been tailored for each speaker model. In combination with the newly developed magnet system, each A Series woofer delivers exceptionally high levels with minimal distortion – essential for clean and powerful bass reproduction.
Midrange driver
The A Series midrange driver is based on the much-noted DHC midrange driver from the S Series – ADAM Audio's high-end monitors. The human ear is particularly sensitive to tonal colouration in the mid frequencies. This new midrange driver provides exceptionally clean reproduction in that critical range. It also relieves the woofer from reproducing mid frequencies. Both the A77H and the A8H are conceived as 3-way systems and are equipped with the A Series midrange driver.
Hybrid amplification
The A Series combines the best of digital and analogue worlds: the woofers are driven by Class-D power amplifiers – ideal for linear performance and minimal distortion. The amplifiers used are highly efficient and generate very little heat, leaving headroom for further improvements and higher output.
Class-AB amplifiers are used for the high- and midrange drivers. They are known for a particularly neutral reproduction of high frequencies. Each amplifier is precisely optimised for its frequency band. The selection and combination of components are the result of countless measurements and listening sessions in ADAM Audio's development labs.
DSP-based electronics
Thanks to powerful DSP technology, all A Series monitors offer significantly improved and more extensive fine-tuning options compared to purely analogue speakers. Firmware can be updated at any time via an Ethernet connection. This way, A Series monitors always have ADAM Audio's latest DSP features – such as new filter types and “Voicings”.
Adaptation to room acoustics
For optimal adaptation to the acoustic environment, the rear panel of each A Series speaker features a 4-band equaliser with the parameters “Bass”, “Desk”, “Presence” and “Treble”. Over 100 fine-tuning variants enable a second-quick adaptation to the most demanding monitoring environments.
Voicings
By „Voicings“ we mean preset tonal profiles. On all A Series studio monitors, different voicings can be selected at the rear of the speakers using push-buttons. „UNR“, „Pure“ and „Ext“ are available.
„UNR“ or „Uniform Natural Response™“ delivers a minimally coloured yet very natural-sounding frequency response. It is inspired by some particularly popular monitors from ADAM Audio's product history, foremost the AX Series. The pleasant and lively sound allows long production and songwriting sessions without fatigue. This setting is also ideally suited for music listening.
„Pure“ provides a maximally neutral and linear frequency response. This voicing is therefore the first choice whenever the highest degree of reproduction accuracy is required – typically for mixing and mastering.
The option labelled „Ext“ allows access to the functions of the „A Control“ software via an Ethernet connection.
A Control (Real-Time Remote Control)
The DSP-based functions of all A Series monitors can be remotely controlled in real time via Ethernet. This is achieved with the A Control remote software. It is available as a free download for Windows and macOS to customers who register their A Series monitors in the MyADAM area. Further information is available at www.adam-audio.com.
With the A Control remote software you can remotely control monitoring levels and all equaliser settings. Multiple speakers can be accessed simultaneously, independent of the listening position. Especially in versatile studio rooms, the quick reconfiguration of all monitor functions (including voicing and EQ) via A Control is particularly practical.
Room adaptation and Sonarworks integration
All A Series speakers can be easily adapted to a wide range of monitoring situations, acoustic environments and individual listening preferences. Via A Control, powerful filter models can be loaded into the monitor's onboard DSP, for example room-correction filters from Sonarworks. Equipped with Sonarworks software and a measurement microphone (not included), all A Series speakers can be perfectly adapted to various rooms and tonal preferences.
Bass-reflex system, enclosure and placement
The enclosures of the A Series are consistent developments of proven ADAM Audio concepts. Noticeable are the more strongly chamfered and thus acoustically advantageous enclosure edges. A significantly reinforced baffle stabilises the entire enclosure and reduces resonances. Double-sided, flow-optimised bass-reflex vents improve air movement and reduce noise. All A Series monitors feature four M8 threads on the underside for easy mounting using appropriate mounting solutions.

The German company ADAM Audio develops, manufactures and distributes high-end loudspeakers for professional use. Founded in Berlin in 1999 and still based there today, ADAM Audio has grown from a hidden gem into a true pioneer and global player in loudspeaker development. The name ADAM Audio comes from the specially developed Advanced Dynamic Audio Monitor.
The foundation for its success was laid by the newly developed X-ART tweeter, which is based on Oskar Heil's Air Motion Transformer from the 1960s. Sound in the X-ART tweeter is not produced by a piston-like moving diaphragm, as was customary until then, but by a pleated film used in the tweeter. This drives the air four times faster than it would move on its own. In fact, the Advanced Dynamic Audio Monitors quickly became the new benchmark in professional monitoring.
The newly developed tweeter immediately became synonymous with a crystal-clear, highly resolved sound and is ADAM Audio's most famous development. Further progress was also made through the use of modern materials such as rare-earth magnets and high-strength diaphragm films, which enabled new designs.
As part of continuous development, a successor to the renowned X-ART tweeter was already designed: the S-ART tweeter. New, solid-aluminium machined HPS and MPS waveguides were also developed to improve dispersion, projection and imaging of the sound and to enlarge the speakers' sweet spot.
Even in times of automated mass production, all ADAM Audio products are meticulously handmade and tested at the Berlin facility. ADAM Audio employs over 60 people worldwide and is represented in more than 75 countries. The fan base, made up of renowned recording studios as well as thoroughly satisfied hi‑fi listeners using ADAM Audio products, is large and continues to grow.
