Martin’s Junior‑series instruments are a little smaller than our full‑size instruments, but you don’t have to make any compromises in tone or volume — instead you gain comfort and portability. This Martin DJR-10E acoustic‑electric bass is ideal if you like to write and practise on an unplugged bass but also want the option to plug in for recording or to play live with your band. The spruce top and sapele back and sides provide a rich Martin bass tone, whether you play unplugged or use the built‑in Fishman® electronics. It also features a fast, comfortable neck so you can keep the rhythm section locked in. The DJR-10E bass is strung with Martin short‑scale bass strings made specifically for this instrument.

Innovations introduced by Martin that became standard in guitar making also include guitars with 14 frets clear of the body as well as X‑bracing. This allows greater stability and load-bearing capacity of the top (soundboard) thanks to strips glued to the inside of the top. The name of the US company Martin Guitars, actually C.F. Martin & Co., Inc., has stood for the highest quality and innovation in the construction of stringed instruments since 1833. When people think of Martin they immediately think of the acoustic guitar, since the company founder and German emigrant Christian Friedrich Martin gave the instruments the form we still know and appreciate today. Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.
