From the 70s Collection series comes Catalinbread's SideArm - an overdrive/boost pedal inspired by the legendary green overdrive pedal from 1979. The modified circuit has been supplemented by a Mid Control knob. The original TS gets its creamy sound from a mid boost at 720 Hz - with the SideArm, the mid range is adjustable - depending on the control position, the typical "mid nose" of the TS circuit is thinned out or boosted. In the centre position of the Mids control, you get the original TS sound. The gain range of the SideArm pedal has been significantly increased compared to the original circuit, so that even heavy crunch and boost sounds are no problem. The tone pot works with a centre frequency of 1 kHz, so that airy, brilliant sounds are also possible.

Das Pedal ist wirklich erstklassig. Klingt aus meiner Sicht gar nicht so sehr nach Tube Screamer. Ist sehr variabel und es lassen sich viele Sounds erreichen. Die Regler sind etwas glatt, aber alle Potis lassen sich sehr angenehm drehen. Bei der Beschriftung muss man schon etwas raten, wenn man keine Lupe parat hat (ich zumindest). Gehört insgesamt zu meinen Lieblings-Overdrives.
