Crown

Crown is a well know US manufacturer of amplifiers, microphones and system controllers with headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana. The products stand for sound quality, power and operational safety. In the 50 years of company history many top products were born. The Crown series offer professional solutions for most operating conditions. In 1947 the company was founded as the “International Radio & Electronics Corporation” by Ruby & Clarence Moore. In 1950 the worlds first tape recorder with built in power amp. was built. During the 50´s the Tape Recorder was always constantly improved. In 1962-1963 Crown developed the first professional solid state tape recorder. In the year 1970 the first preamp “Crown IC 150 “and the amplifier “D-Crown 150” were released. In 1975 the company was renamed to Crown International Inc... In 1977 the controller Crown DL-2 was introduced, only 2 years later the first integrated amplifier, the Crown SA-2 hit the markets. The PZM was Crowns first microphone in 1980. In 1991 Crowns mixer series was launched and included the models MPX-6 and SMX-6, the revolutionary K2 followed in 1996. In 1998 two amplifiers, the CE1000 and CE2000 were introduced and offered an outstanding value for money. Crown was taken over by Harman International in the year 2000.
