Native Instruments

The Native Instruments story started in 1995 in a small office in Berlin. Volker Hinz, a programmer who later became co. founder, teamed up with Stephan Schmidt and developed the first modular software synthesiser called Generator, constant improvements of the Generator resulted in the success of the complex program Reaktor.
Reaktor combines synthesiser, sampler, sequencer and effect functions.
In 1996 Stephan Schmitt and Volker Hinz founded the company as "Native Instruments GbR"
Generator was released in the following summer and was NI first commercial product.
Soon the company Native Instruments had become a pioneer for software synthesis running on normal PCs.

Furthermore in 2001 the professional DJ software Native Instruments Traktor was launched, as well as the software guitar amp emulation (Native Instruments Guitar Rig).
