Jumbo Acoustic Guitars

In 1934, to be competitive with the new, larger bodied dreadnought acoustic guitars from Martin, Gibson brought out their Jumbo acoustic guitar, which was 1-1/4" wider, 1" longer, and 1/2" deeper than their L-Series flat-tops. Subsequent jumbo acoustics have developed into three groups, the round-shoulder jumbo, the square-shoulder jumbo, and the narrow-waist jumbo, of which the Super Jumbo J-200 is Gibson's "King of the Flat-Top Guitars." Jumbo acoustic guitars are very popular as a rhythm guitar and offer a full-bodied overall sound.
