Brand Augustine

Albert Augustine is considered to be one of the pioneers regarding the development of nylon guitar strings. Born in 1900 in Denmark, the luthier emigrated to the USA in 1927 and settled down in New York. In the late 1930s he began to work on an alternative to the catgut strings, which were used up until then. The solution was the use of the newly invented synthetic nylon.
In 1944 it finally happened - the new strings were used at their very first public concert. The rest is history. Up to this day, Augustine Nylon Strings are one of the most widely used brands of strings for classical guitars.
