Electro Harmonix Oceans 11 · Guitar Effect
Oceans 11 - the next ingenious coup from Electro Harmonix. Based on the name of the effect pedal, one could assume that the EHX crew has stolen top-secret reverb algorithms from the vault of a Las Vegas casino guarded by an army of ninjas in a spectacular action. It's not quite that wild, but who knows! The Oceans 11 offers 11 different programs based on reverb algorithms - besides standard presets like Hall, Plate and Spring (a newly developed preset that deceptively simulates the sound of a Fender Tube Reverb, including the typical "drip" on attack and the characteristic clang), also programs like the hip Shimmer Reverb, Dynamic Reverb where the reverb sound is faded in, Echo, Gated and Reverse Reverb (wellcome back to the 80's), Modulation Reverb (flanger or chorus on the reverb tail), Auto Inf (the cool EHX Freeze effect where a chord or single note is automatically held until a new chord is struck), the good old tremolo effect with multiple waveforms, which can be driven up to rim modulation and Poly - a pitch shifter preset where like the EHX Pog adds a polyphonic octave down and also up to the fundamental, ideal for 12 string simulations or the organ sounds known from the POG. But that's not all: the footswitch has a double function - reverb programs can be frozen and sound out as long as the footswitch is held. Pressing the footswitch twice in quick succession in the Spring preset produces the iconic "crash" sound, like kicking an amp with spring reverb. The Oceans 11 looks quite spartan at first sight, but all pots have a double function depending on the preset, which can be selected with the Mode button. If you are looking for a cheap reverb pedal or a cool special effects machine, you should take a look at the Electro Harmonix Oceans 11 - the pedal has the potential to be a real hit!!!
