D'Addario Select Jazz
Rico Select Jazz becomes D'Addario Select Jazz

The company 'Rico', existing since 1928, which produces a variety of reeds for woodwinds, was taken over by 'D'Addario' in 2004, so that the Royal reeds - in well-known cut but under a new name - remain available.

The high-quality reed continues to come from France and is processed in the USA, using the latest scanning techniques. This has the advantage that there are more 'good' leaves in one box. The transition to D'Addario Woodwinds has optimised the production process and has made it possible to achieve an almost equal quality of the reeds, which is always in accordance with the Rico Select Jazz reeds.

The Select Jazz cut results in a strong, longer leaf with a clearly defined leaf heart. This results in unparalleled projection and a clear, full tone with unsurpassed flexibility. Select Jazz reeds have a traditional tip shape and are made from high quality reed wood. In combination with the newer scanning methods used in reed manufacturing, this results in particularly high-quality and durable reeds.

The Select Jazz reeds are available for soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and are available in the strengths 2 soft to 4 hard. The strengths are divided into thirds, allowing a more differentiated choice of reeds.

In addition, the Select Jazz series is available in both filed and unfilled cut:

The Filed Cut (also known as French Cut and Double Cut) ensures high flexibility and easy response. This cut is preferred by saxophonists who use mouthpieces with round chambers, such as Meyer or Otto Link.

The Unfiled Cut (or American Cut and Single Cut) also provides a high flexibility and furthermore a powerful and expressive sound. Wind players of bright sounding mouthpieces with small to medium chambers, e. g. Beechler, Berg Larsen or Dukoff, prefer the "unfiled" reed.

The reeds of the D'Addario Select Jazz series are perfectly suited for jazz and rock.
